If you’ve suffered an injury that you think is going to knock you out of commission for the next month – think again. Think outside of the box! Remind yourself that there is more than one way to reach your exercise goals. It’s easy to slip into a negative mindset, but take a minute to channel those thoughts into positive ones. If you’ve hurt your ankle and won’t be able to keep up with your jogging plan, take that opportunity to start a swimming routine that you’ve always wanted to add to your plan! Or, come up with a fun routine for upper body and abs until you’ve fully recovered from the injury.
Consult your doctor before starting a new routine, but don’t let this be an excuse to give up. Use this bump in the road to rejuvenate your normal program! There are many options for exercise, you may have to get creative or take it easy until your body has recovered but if you stop completely your body will start to lose conditioning and the road to recovery will be a much longer one.
