If you’ve hit a wall in your routine and you feel like you’re not seeing results, it’s common to get discouraged. Here are a few ideas to keep you motivated:
- Your body is most likely going through an adjustment period, do not give up or think you need to change your routine completely. You can step up the intensity or increase repetitions, but if you have already noticed results from the same exercises and eating well, don’t question your routine. Trust the process.
- Concentrate on daily goals rather than the big picture. It can be frustrating if you are obsessing over the total number of pounds you’d like to lose or a reaching a specific pant size. Instead, make one or two daily goals to focus on and look at them at the end of the day to see how you’ve done.
- Don’t push yourself. Your muscles need time to recover or they will not get stronger. Take a day off and then get back to the grind, your body needs to rest.
- Tweak your routine a bit. Don’t get too comfortable or your body will not be able to get through the plateau. If you always do the same cardio routine, cut the time in half in pump up the intensity to get your muscles working hard. This will push you over the hump.
- Stay MODUVATED! Surround yourself with people with healthy habits. Educate yourself. Share your knowledge and excitement about working out with those around you!
